Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise has come a long way since the first shooter game that came out some years ago. With the release of a film, characterization has made several concepts possible for future games.
Angry Birds: Dice is one of those iterations based on the characters personalized by the film. In this game, the Hogs come to the Birds’ island intent on stealing their eggs. They intend to distract the Birds by engaging them in fun dice games, but Red and his three friends see through their disguise.
In a nutshell, this game is based off the popular Monopoly gameplay. Your goal is to steal all your opponents’ Joy, which is the game’s currency. You have Joy given to you by the millions, and you have to make your opponent pay you a toll in order for you to siphon off all his money and defeat him.
The slingshot makes a comeback in this game, but it doesn’t throw birds at your opponent. Instead, they serve to roll the dice. The number you come up with every dice roll represents how many steps you can make in the board.
Landing on a blank spot will give you ownership over that spot. What you should do is to invest on the Town to increase its level. The higher the town’s level is, the higher the toll your opponent has to pay you.
Your opponent will then have to pay the price when they land on a spot that you’ve already invested in. Likewise, you could also end up paying a toll if your dice roll lands you on a location that is already owned by your opponent.
The first player to lose all his Joy is declared the loser.
You don’t have to rely on mere rolling of the dice. The game gives you a set of three power-up cards that you can use in each level. Each card has a specific effect on your opponent. Some awards extra Joy you can use in that specific level. Others also serve to drag your opponent back towards a spot that is some steps back from his original position.
Look at each card’s effect before you decide to use them, so you can see how they can be integrated into your strategy.
You can play either as a Hog or as one of the Birds here in Angry Birds: Dice. However, you’d have to play a number of levels before you can unlock new characters.
To play this game, you will need to download it to your mobile device through its operating system’s app store. That would mean Google Play Store for Android devices, and iTunes for Apple’s iOS devices.
It takes but a few moments to download and install the game. The process could take longer if there is a need to update the app, but it is only a slight delay.
