Firework Fever is a spectacular match-3 game that might not necessarily push the genre to new heights but it’s still worth trying out, especially if you’re into the traditional match-3 games that come without all the bells and whistles of modern releases in the genre. The game delivers a simple, straightforward and addictive gameplay and couples this with an intriguing setting to make for an intriguing setting that players are sure to enjoy.
There’s a lot to like about Firework Fever but, if were one to pick out one flaw, it would be the fact that it isn’t the most new player friendly match-3 out there. Most match-3 games today come with a full-fledged tutorial sequence in their first few levels but that isn’t the case this time around. If you haven’t played games of this genre before then you might struggle a bit at the beginning of this one because there’s no built-in tutorial sequence.
Firework Fever goes back to the roots of the genre and aims to deliver players the classical match-3 experience. The objective in each level is to either reach a certain amount of points or match the specified objects and, in order to do so, you have to match three similar fireworks together by swapping the places of those that are adjacent to one another. Although the minimum amount of objects that you can match is three, you can put together more than three and, if you do so, you’ll actually spawn special fireworks that have various special effects on the playing area. Matching four or more fireworks in a straight line will spawn fireworks that explode in a full line whereas matching four or more fireworks in a T or L shape will create fireworks that cause a small explosion around them.
As mentioned earlier, Firework Fever focuses solely on providing players with a classical experience and, due to this, the game doesn’t have any power-ups. The lack of power-ups makes the gameplay considerably more challenging, although, it’s worth mentioning that the game does tend to get quite difficult in the later levels without power-ups because you’ll have to complete the levels without any assistance.
Onto the visuals, Firework Fever definitely has its fair share of flaws but, overall, it’s a pretty neat looking game. The fireworks look sharp, the colors are bright and the artwork is quite solid. The one flaw that we noticed in the visuals is the fact that the animations tend to get a tad bit clunky from time to time but, thankfully, this doesn’t occur as often so it’s not that big of an issue.
The game is completely free to play and is browser based as well so you can play for as long as you want without any restrictions.
Overall, Firework Fever is a top notch match-3 game that’s perfect for players who want an experience that goes back to the roots of the genre. Firework Fever Summary
