Enjoy full-fledged, fingerless, and fun casual gameplay with little to zero difficulty.
Super Sam is a fun, casual game wherein you will play as a cartoonish-looking ranch owner whose sheep have been stolen by aliens. Though we don’t exactly know why the extraterrestrials have chosen to steal sheep, the game itself provides a fun, casual experience anyone would love. You will follow Super Sam’s journey in various landscapes and while avoiding traps and monsters who will not hesitate to gobble him up. Thing is, will this game be something you would want to play? Let’s find out.
Super Sam’s controls are quite simple: all you have to do is tilt your device left and right to make Sam move as he drops downward, avoiding obstacles and traps. Though it’s not complicated, it isn’t simple since you will need to collect coins and powerups as well. Apart from which, you may encounter gems along the way, and these are important since they’re the premium currency. Overall, the control scheme and gameplay well-suited for casual players or people who are simply looking for a quick way to kill time. This isn’t a game you would spend countless hours on, but nevertheless, it’s a great way to make long lines and waiting times bearable.
Level progression in Super Sam is linear: once you finish the first, you will immediately go to the next. If you get eliminated or start a new game, you will need to begin from the first level. There is no level selection screen here, which is quite frustrating, especially if you want to play in the latter worlds. On a positive note, this makes the game quite challenging: something thrill-seeking gamers would love to accomplish.
Super Sam’s level designs are varied and well-made, and you definitely will see the love and effort poured into them. You will get to move around places like grasslands with thorns sprouting from the ground, ancient temples with tomb guardians, and an inexplicable world with blobs that would eat you if you somehow touch them. They look dissimilar and are designed differently, so you will be getting a fresh experience every time you go to the next level.
There are various powerups in Super Sam that can make life a little easier. These include coin magnets, a rocket that can propel you to the next level, and even a bubble that not only protects you, but also destroys everything it touches. Coins vary, and their value ranges from one up to a hundred. By collecting them, you will be able purchase boosts and get the chance to unlock costumes. There is a microtransaction part, though it’s not pronounced and the developers have done an excellent job of not shoving it on your face.
There are three “missions” that change whenever you accomplish them and whenever you do, your score is multiplied. Usually, they’re pretty simple, like “collect a hundred coins”, “use a coin magnet”, or “acquire a gem”. You would want to perform and cross them off your list especially i you’re trying to chase a high score.
Overall, Super Sam isn’t the most complicated game out there, but it’s a fairly decent casual and something you would want to have on your device. With its varying levels, zero focus on microtransactions, decent presentation aspects, and fun gameplay, it’s perfect if you want to kill time. It’s available for free on iOS, so download it now.
