Help Woody and the gang scramble to clean up Andy's room before he comes back

Match toys, get power-ups and if the situation calls for it, you can use boosts too.

Collect all playset pieces to unlock new bonus adventures for each character in the game

The toys have been finding very creative ways to keep themselves occupied while Andy was away at cowboy camp for the summer, but Andy’s coming home today and if the bedroom is not in tip-top shape, he will know something’s amiss! Who knows? Maybe his little sister, Molly, will be incorrectly blamed for the fiasco!

That’s why Woody decided to take the lead on this clean-up project and direct the toys to stash away all the items in their correct places… all he needs is for you to pitch in as well!

Featuring the familiar and beloved characters from the Toy Story movies, Toy Story Drop is a fun and casual, match-3 adventure game where you’ll not only get to play some fantastic match-3 games but also experience a brand-new storyline and unlock new bonus adventures for each of iconic character in the movie.

Toy Story Drop isn’t an overly-unique match-3 game so if you’ve played any match-3 games before, you should be pretty familiar with the gameplay. Basically, you’ll need to swipe the toys to make a match of at least 3 items. You can also match more toys together, which frankly speaking, is more beneficial to you because you can get some amazing power-ups.

For instance, by matching 4 toys together in a square form, you’ll get the Rocket power-up which can be activated by either swiping with a neighboring toy or by double tapping on it. When activated, it will blast away a toy, helping you to progress that much closer to achieving your level goals. Best yet, you can even combine two power-ups

Like most match-3 games, each level you play comes with specific goals for you to achieve, and limited moves (starting from level 4 at least) to achieve them. Some can be pretty straightforward, such as collecting 20 or 30 purple rockets or reaching a certain score to win, while others may require a bit more planning and strategic, like having to drop all the metal jacks to the bottom of the board or matching next to orange pads to collect the marbles on them.

Need some help completing a level? Toy Story Drop also comes with a selection of boosters that you can use to either clear a single toy from the board or a bunch of them. However, note that these boosters aren’t exactly freely available, so don’t waste them on levels that you won’t be able to complete anyway. It might be more logical to just fail the level, lose a life and try again.

Uniquely enough though, Toy Story Drop doesn’t have the “3-star rating” feature that so many casual games have. Instead, you earn a fixed 10 coins per level you complete and if you manage to match up some Battery Power tokens, then you’ll also be able to use the power you’ve collected to charge the battery at the end of the path on the level map.

Wait a minute! What is all this stuff? Well, Toy Story Drop doesn’t use stars to restrict you from accessing new areas in the game. Instead, it uses battery power! You see, at the end of every area is an exhausted battery that needs charging and by collecting these Power tokens you can charge it up. Once it’s full, you’ll automatically be able to access the Story Level and subsequently, the next part of the game.

As opposed to many match-3 games, the Story Levels here doesn’t involve a “boss battle”. All you need to do is to help a toy to clean up the mess that blocking your path to the next area. As you progress, you will encounter toy chests which contain goodies like free boosts and playset pieces. Collect all the playset pieces for a character, then you’ll be able to unlock a special Bonus Adventure for that character. Naturally, there are many playsets for you to collect!

Personally, I really like how accessible Toy Story Drop is to everyone. Even if you’re completely new to the genre, the game’s incredibly in-depth tutorial will definitely be able to guide you by the hand. This is particularly helpful for kids who love Toy Story but are new to casual gaming in general.

Toy Story Drop has a really interesting way to encourage players to play more and feel like they are part of a community, despite being pretty much a single-player game – it provides community goals for every player in the game to contribute to and once a milestone is reached, rewards including some really cool stuff like special gameplay voice-overs, in addition to more free boosts, will then be distributed out to the community.

Toy Story Drop has some quality graphics. The art style used here stayed true to the original movies. Even the animations during the dialogues and gameplay are really well-done. Of course, who can resist the much-adored theme song of Toy Story – “You’ve got a friend in me” by Randy Newman. The instrumental version of the song plays whenever you’re not in a match-3 game; the in-game music is still just as jazzy but it’s a unique song.

All in all, Toy Story Drop is not only a truly fantastic, family-friendly match-3 adventure to play; it also happens to be a close-to-heart and very nostalgic game mainly due to its theme. If you enjoy playing casual match-3 games and you absolutely love Toy Story, then this is a game that’s designed for you! Toy Story Drop! Summary
